Rain chances will be dropping Monday as a front pushes south and drier air begins moving into the region. Most of the week should be fairly quiet, but a potential system in the Gulf could make the forecast much more complicated by the weekend.

Today and Tonight:  A few showers are still possible Monday, but any widespread rain is over. The front will move offshore, allowing drier air to gradually work in from the north, although clouds will hang around much of the day. Temperatures should climb into the 80s this afternoon. The air will remain humid at first, but moisture drops steadily through tonight.

Up Next: Tuesday starts the transition to a much nicer stretch of weather. Rain chances remain low, and by Wednesday and Thursday we should see more sunshine with temperatures warming into the upper 80s, with some areas possibly touching 90 Thursday. The forecast becomes much less certain late in the week. A disturbance could develop over the southwestern Gulf, but guidance disagrees on what happens next. 

Tropics: The National Hurricane Center is giving that developing area of low pressure in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico a low chance of tropical development through Tuesday and a medium chance through the next seven days. The system could gradually organize later this week, but its eventual track and impacts remain highly uncertain.
