True fall weather is here to stay for now. Even with a slight midweek warm-up, a strong cold front will quickly shut that down, eventually dropping temperatures closer to winter-like levels.

Tonight & Tomorrow: Despite passing high clouds from time to time overnight, they’ll hardly be noticeable after dark. Temperatures will drop in a hurry after dark behind Friday night’s cold front, with lows dropping into the mid-40s.

High clouds will pass through from time to time overnight, but they’ll hardly be noticeable after dark. Temperatures will tumble fast once the daytime warming fades. Sunday will start off chilly, with lows dipping into the mid-40s across Metro Baton Rouge. High clouds will continue filtering sunlight on Sunday, but not enough to keep from reaching the low-to-mid 70s. This is right on pace with the average high of 73° for the date.

Up Next: Monday will bring more of the same, with a chilly start in the mid-40s rebounding into the mid-70s by afternoon. The day might bring a few more clouds, but rain will remain tough to find. Expect milder conditions toward midweek as highs reach back into the upper 70s and overnight lows rise into the 50s. That will coincide with a weak storm system moving through, which could spark a stray shower or two between Tuesday and Thursday. Even so, most neighborhoods appear to avoid the action.

A strong cold front will sweep through on Thursday, ushering in the coolest air of the season so far. Many areas along and north of I-10 and I-12 could wake up to the upper 30s by Saturday morning, with afternoon highs holding in the upper 60s and low 70s.
