BIRMINGHAM - Alabama State quarterback and 2025 SWAC Offensive Player of the Year Andrew Body is a tough quarterback to go against in week one, particularly for a Southern Jaguars team looking to turn the page after 2025's 2-10 record.

But for Jags head coach Marshall Faulk, he sees the early opportunity to face Body as something of a blessing.

"All the things you want in a quarterback, he does it well," said Faulk. "We're lucky to get him week one. I'd hate to have him week four or five. Week one, we might get him to make a mistake."

One of the players Faulk's relying on to keep Body on his toes is returning Southern safety Herman Brister III.

"We're going to play our brand of football," said Brister. "He's going to play quarterback, and we're going to treat him like he's another quarterback."

Last season, Body threw for 198 yards with two touchdowns, as the Hornets beat the Jags 30-7.
