BATON ROUGE — The Elvin Howard Sr. Pancreatic Cancer Advocacy Foundation is hosting two events to commemorate Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.

First up is the 5K Run/1-Mile Walk on Nov. 7 in Baker. The 5K starts at 9 a.m., with the mile run starting at 9:10 a.m. Both runs start at 3325 Groom Road.

Organizers say that the event offers families, friends and community groups an opportunity to celebrate loved ones, remember those lost to pancreatic cancer and stand alongside those currently facing the disease.

Less than a week later, the group's 10th annual fundraiser, "Unmasking a Decade of Purpose," will happen at Boudreaux’s Fine Catering along Government Street on Nov. 13 at 7 p.m.

The event will be hosted by LaTangela Fay and will have live entertainment from George Bell and Friends. The event also features a silent auction to raise funds for the foundation.
