CLINTON - East Feliciana Public Schools is making several changes this year, including a shift to a four-day school week across all seven schools in the district, as students return to the classroom Tuesday.

East Feliciana Middle School now has a new career-focused Star Academy, and ninth graders at the high school can earn college credit through a new Early College Academy in partnership with BRCC.

On the safety side, all schools require clear book bags and use metal detectors at schools and events. Five student resource officers will also be patrolling campuses.

"School resource officers have to be trained the same way with the same training hours as the typical law enforcement officer you see out in the community serving the community," Travis said, "but in addition they have to have specialized training," East Feliciana Parish Sheriff Jeff Travis said.
