Holiday festivities around the Greater Baton Rouge area
BATON ROUGE — It's the start of December, which means it's time for holiday season events.
Here's a list of festive events to kick off the season.

For the entire month of December, experience the magic of Christmas at Zemurray Park in Hammond as the 33-acre park transforms into a winter wonderland, with thousands of sparkling lights and enchanting displays that will fill you with holiday cheer. Also running for most of the holiday season in Tangipahoa Parish is Christmas at the Rise in Tickfaw, which includes a magical hayride and other activities for all ages. Tickets are available here. The event runs Dec. 6-8, Dec. 12-15 and Dec. 19-23.
Wednesday, Dec. 11
- Zachary High School Choir's Christmas Dreams: A Winter Concert at 7 p.m. at the Zachary High School Visual and Performing Arts Center. Admission is free.
Friday, Dec. 13
- The Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts' performance of "The Nutcracker" featuring the Hammond Ballet Company starts at 7 p.m. Tickets — $40 for adults and $20 for students and children — can be bought here.

Saturday, Dec. 14
- Greenbrier Elementary School is hosting a Breakfast with Santa starting at 9 a.m. Tickets for the event start at $15. Santa Claus, The Cat in the Hat, Curious George, Pete the Cat and Clifford the Big Red Dog will all be at the event for kids to enjoy. Tickets are available here.

- Officers with Central Police will have Santa in custody at the police department building beginning at 1 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. after the Christmas parade for 'mugshots' and pictures with the holiday icon.
- The Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts' performance of "The Nutcracker" featuring the Hammond Ballet Company starts at 7 p.m. Tickets — $40 for adults and $20 for students and children — can be bought here.
- The Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre is putting on its 31st annual production of "The Nutcracker" at the Raising Cane's River Center. at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased from the River Center through Ticketmaster here.
- Let It Sneaux at Perkins Road Community Park in Baton Rouge from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Featuring a magical holiday drone light show, snow zones, photos with Santa, a mini maker's market, local vendors and kids activities.
- Kiwanis Christmas Parade in Downtown Baton Rouge at 5:30 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 15
- Christmas at the Tea House at the Fleur De Lis Tea Company in Amite. The event runs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Adult tickets are $55 plus tax, while kids tickets are $35 plus tax. Active military/vetera

- Santa will be giving out gifts at the Central Police Department from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. or until the last gift has been given!
