DENHAM SPRINGS - More than 14,000 people were in the dark on Sunday night during a power outage.

According to the DEMCO outage map, 8,141 customers in Livingston Parish and 5,560 in Ascension Parish were without power. About 1,000 Entergy customers in those parishes were experiencing an outage as well. 

By Monday morning, the outage was resolved.

"Last night, DEMCO members in areas of Ascension and Livingston Parish experienced an outage due to a temporary loss of transmission at our metering point," officials said, noting service was restored within two hours of the outage. "Transmission interruptions like this can happen from time to time when there are disruptions on the regional power grid."
