Neighbors mourn loss of 92-year-old man beaten to death
BATON ROUGE - A community is remembering the life of a 92-year-old man who died after someone beat him inside his home in the Sherwood Forest subdivision.
Baton Rouge police said Larry Salisbury died from injuries consistent with blunt force trauma. Peggy Noel said she called police again Monday after she noticed broken windows on Salisbury's car in the driveway. That's when police discovered his body.
"When the police officer came over and told us, I just wanted to die, because I said, 'Don't tell me Mr. Larry is gone,'" said Noel.
Peggy Noel said Larry Salisbury had been afraid of his son.
"Mr. Larry, he had been terrified of his son," said Noel.
Noel often helped take care of him and said he wrote a letter over the weekend thanking her and her husband for their generosity.
"We would just cut his grass for him, bring him food and snacks. He was just the best. The best neighbor. Quiet. Never gave anyone any trouble except when his son came over," said Noel.

"One of the neighbors called Saturday like four or five times. They never came," said Noel.
Police have not released a motive for the beating.
Bruce Salisbury, Larry's son, was detained in connection. He has a lengthy criminal history.
