NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans Saints owner Gayle Benson said that the Saints starting their second season in a row with a 1-4 record is unacceptable and that the team's performance "must do better."

Benson, at an appearence at the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club on Tuesday, said that the Kellen Moore-led team's performance is substandard and not acceptable for the organization.

"I will not make excuses, and I will not accept this level of performance as our standard," Benson said. "I am committed to making the decisions necessary to improve this team. Everyone in this organization understands the urgency. We must prepare better, execute consistently and correct the mistakes that are costing us the games."

The Saints are in the midst of a three-game losing streak, most recently losing to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. Before that, the Saints lost a Monday Night Football game against the Atlanta Falcons. The 45-24 loss was the 20th anniversary of the Domecoming, the first game in the Superdome after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
