As temperatures dropped into the 20s, several schools have announced their closures for Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025 and Wednesday, Jan 22, 2025 in anticipation of icy roads and hazardous conditions. State and local offices have also announced closures. Some even remained closed through Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025.

Here is a list of schools that will remain closed after the MLK holiday:

Amite County
- Amite County School District will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. 

Ascension Parish: 
- Ascension Parish public schools will be closed on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
- Ascension Catholic Diocesan Regional School will be closed on Tuesday.

Assumption Parish: 
- All public schools in Assumption Parish will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. 
- St. Elizabeth School will be closed on Tuesday.

East Baton Rouge Parish:
- East Baton Rouge Parish Schools will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Baker School System will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Zachary Community School District will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Central Community School System schools and offices will close Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Louisiana School for the Deaf and Louisiana School for the Blind will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
- The Dunham School campus will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Kenilworth Science and Technology Academy will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
- South Baton Rouge Charter will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Parkview Baptist School will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.
- GEO Prep Academy, GEO Mid-City, GEO Prep Baker and GEO Next Generation High School will be closed on Tuesday.
- Inspire Charter Academy will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Idea Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Helix Community Schools will be closed on Tuesday.
- Multiple Catholic schools, including Our Lady of Mercy, Redemptorist-St. Gerard, REACH Program, St. Jean Vianney, St. Jude the Apostle, St. Michael the Archangel Diocesan Regional School and St. Thomas More, will be closed Tuesday.
- St. Joseph's Academy will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Catholic High School's campus will be closed on Tuesday.
- Redesign School Louisiana schools Dalton Elementary and Lanier Elementary will be closed on Tuesday.
- EduCare Academy 1 and 2 will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. 
- Southern University Laboratory School will be closed on through Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025.
- Jehovah-Jireh Christian Academy and Learning Center will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Episcopal School of Baton Rouge will be closed on Tuesday. Middle and Upper School classes will be held virtually.
- Treasures from Heaven Childcare and Learning Center will be closed Tuesday.
- Madison Preparatory Academy will be closed Tuesday. 
- Hosanna Christian Academy will be closed Tuesday.
- University Lab School will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. 
- The Brighton School will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. 
- Central Private Schools will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. 
- Dalton Elementary and Lanier Elementary School will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. 

East Feliciana Parish: 
- East Feliciana Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Iberville Parish:
- Iberville Parish public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. 
- St. John the Evangelist will be closed on Tuesday.

Livingston Parish:
- All Livingston Parish Public schools will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. 

Pointe Coupee Parish:
- All Pointe Coupee Parish schools will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Catholic Interparochial will be closed on Tuesday.

St. Helena Parish: 
- St. Helena Parish public schools will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. 

St. James Parish:
- St. James Parish Schools will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. 
- St. Peter Chanel Interparochial School will be closed on Tuesday.

St. Mary Parish: 
- St. Mary Parish Schools will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tangipahoa Parish
- Tangipahoa Parish Schools will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday Jan.
- All Tangipahoa Catholic schools will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.

West Baton Rouge Parish:
- West Baton Rouge Parish Schools will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Holy Family will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

West Feliciana Parish:
- West Feliciana Parish public schools will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. 

Wilkinson County: 
- Wilkinson County public schools will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. 

Baton Rouge Community College's campuses will be closed and have work moved online on Thursday. 

LSU, FranU, Southeastern and Southern are among universities that have cancelled in-person classes on Tuesday. LSU, FranU, Southeastern and Southern have extended their remote schedule to include Wednesday.

Outside of the capital area, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette will be operating remotely on Tuesday and Wednesday.
