BATON ROUGE - Southern University held a free STEM event at its Welcome Center for students from elementary to high school age on Saturday. 

The event will provide K-12 students, families, alumni, current students and community members with hands-on learning, innovation, gaming and career exploration, the university says.

The event is designed to combine the traditions of Southern game day with opportunities to explore the possibilities of STEM through demonstrations and other activities.
