Swim instructors, health experts encourage swim safety as summer approaches
BATON ROUGE - May is National Water Safety Month, and ahead of the summer, officials are urging safe swimming and water safety.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, drowning is the fourth leading cause of injury-related death for children ages 0 to 14 in Louisiana.
Just recently, a three-year-old boy lost his life due to drowning in Prairieville on Monday.
Using strong water safety practices can prevent drownings and serious water-related injuries.
