Tropical Storm Edouard made landfall around 2:20 p.m. CDT near Johnson Bayou, Louisiana, with maximum sustained winds of 60 mph. Now that the storm is over land, a quick weakening is expected moving forward.

Being a compact system, peak winds are tightly concentrated around the storm’s center. Consequently, the wind impact will be confined to a relatively small footprint. Tropical-storm-force wind gusts will remain a possibility across East Texas and southwest Louisiana into the evening. Edouard will likely weaken to a tropical depression by Wednesday morning. Heavy rainfall will be more far-reaching. 3-6” of rain and locally higher amounts are possible in East Texas, whereas far southwestern Louisiana is projected to receive upwards of 2-4”.
