LIVINGSTON — Two people were arrested on drug charges overnight in Livingston Parish following a traffic stop along the I-12 Westbound entrance ramp.

According to the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office, a search of the vehicle led to the seizure of fentanyl, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Following the search, 33-year-old Kala Licciardi and 32-year-old Briana Burkins were arrested on various drug charges.

A further search by jail deputies led to the discovery of a concealed plastic bag containing numerous dosage units of different medications and two additional bags containing suspected fentanyl.

Licciardi was charged with possession of marijuana under 14 grams, possession of schedule II drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, sale, possession, or distribution of a legend drug, possession of schedule IV drugs, battery, and introducing contraband into a penal institution. 

Burkins was charged with possession of schedule II drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
