DENHAM SPRINGS — The Livingston Parish Council passed a resolution to honor a Denham Springs crossing guard who was struck by a vehicle outside Gray's Creek Elementary.

Katy Wells was on duty after school at Gray's Creek Elementary when she was hit by a truck driving northwest on Hwy. 16. She died as a result of the crash.

On Thursday, Livingston Parish Council passed a resolution making Oct. 16 "Mrs. Katy Wells Day" in recognition of her birthday on Oct. 18.

Darren Goudeau, 64, of Walker was arrested in the crash.
