Franklin man arrested for alleged aggravated assault on officer in St. Mary Parish
FRANKLIN — A Franklin man was arrested for the alleged aggravated assault of an officer on Friday, according to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office.
A deputy and an investigator with the sheriff's office traveled to a local business in the Ricohoc area to complete a summons arrest on a subject on Thursday afternoon when David Leonard Jr., a family member of the subject, allegedly exited the business yelling obscenities and threatening the investigator.
Leonard was later physically restrained by a family member as he continued to yell and advance towards the investigator in a threatening manner.
On Friday, an arrest warrant was issued for Leonard for the aggravated assault on a police officer in connection with the altercation. A detective later contacted Leonard and advised him of the warrant as well as requested that he turn himself in.

Leonard later surrendered himself at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center before being released on a $1,500 bond.
