BATON ROUGE — Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University, or FranU, is celebrating 10 years since Our Lady of the Lake College became a university in 2016.

Our Lady of the Lake College became a university as it expanded its advanced degree programs. By 2016, the institution had evolved into a university with three schools and multiple academic programs.

Officials also said the new name "affirmed the institution’s Catholic and Franciscan identity," with the name chosen to "honor the congregation that founded the institution and its educational ministry."
