BATON ROUGE — A hearing date has been set for the federal lawsuit between LSU and the Southeastern Conference, court records show.

The SEC and LSU had gone back and forth in court filings, with LSU requesting a dismissal. The conference had initially filed the lawsuit as LSU considered rostering multiple fifth-year players on their football roster; LSU eventually did not roster those players.

However, the SEC argued that LSU was planning on doing the same with its men's basketball roster.

"Defendants’ argument that they mooted this case by deciding, at last, not to roster the players is like saying that someone caught with his hand in the cookie jar has cured the problem by pulling it out. What’s more, Defendants still have their hands in the jar," the SEC said in a filing.

LSU had argued last week that the case should be dismissed, saying that the claim against the men's basketball roster was "demonstrably false" after LSU did not roster former Boston Celtic RJ Luis.

The court date is set for Nov. 18 at 10 a.m. in Birmingham, Alabama.
