Iberville Parish blight assessment to begin October 26 in unincorporated areas
PLAQUEMINE — A blight property assessment will begin in unincorporated areas throughout Iberville Parish on Monday.
According to the South Central Planning & Development Commission, survey teams will travel through neighborhoods from Oct. 26 through Nov. 16 to document property conditions. Residents may notice vehicles driving slowly or individuals taking photographs of properties.
Blight refers to properties that have fallen into significant disrepair, deterioration or neglect. That can include abandoned or severely damaged structures, overgrown properties, unsafe buildings or other conditions that may negatively impact the safety, appearance and overall quality of a neighborhood.
The assessment is for documentation and planning purposes only. Survey teams will not conduct property inspections or enforcement activities at this time.
