LIVINGSTON — Livingston Parish deputies arrested a 36-year-old man from San Antonio, Texas, in connection with more than $100,000 in stolen merchandise at multiple Ulta Beauty locations, the sheriff's office said Friday.

Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the Ulta Beauty in Juban Crossing on Aug. 26 for a theft complaint. Through their investigation, detectives identified Julio Manuel Flores Martinez as a suspect.

Martinez allegedly targeted the fragrance section, specifically the tester bottles, according to Ard. Detectives said he was seen scraping off security tags and placing bottles in his pants before walking out without paying.

According to the sheriff's office, Martinez had multiple warrants in various states for similar behavior, also targeting Ulta stores.

"Total loss to Ulta at these multiple locations will be well over $100,000," Ard said.

LPSO said Martinez drove to the Juban Crossing store in a white van with a Florida license plate. With help from the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office and the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office, detectives found Martinez and his vehicle in Iberville Parish and arrested him.

Detectives also recovered more than $5,000 in stolen fragrances, which were returned to Ulta.

Martinez was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on theft and tampering charges.
