BATON ROUGE — As the nation marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, LSU is remembering one of its own.

Scott Lamana was the only LSU student killed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

To honor Lamana’s memory, LSU is featuring an exhibit highlighting his life and legacy.

Organizers say the exhibit is part of an effort to educate future generations about 9/11 and help students understand the events that shaped the world they live in today.

Alongside the exhibit, LSU’s food pantry is also taking part in a separate effort to remember those who were lost on September 11.

James Gregory, director of the LSU William A. Brookshire Military Museum, said the pantry distributed bags across campus. Each bag included a flyer featuring the name of someone who died in the attacks, along with information about 9/11.

“The food pantry worked all over campus to give out these bags,” Gregory said. “We also had a flyer in each one that had the name of someone who was lost in 9/11, with some information about that day to kind of help further that education through a different path.”

Organizers say remembering those who were lost is especially important as younger generations grow up without firsthand memories of the attacks.
