MORGAN CITY — A man was arrested after allegedly forcing a woman into his car, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office said. 

Guillermo Cerpa Carmona, 27, was arrested on a warrant for kidnapping-simple, battery-simple and false imprisonment on Sunday morning. 

On Sunday, police responded to a call from a woman claiming she had been kidnapped from a business in the Amelia area near the Assumption Parish border. The woman added that Carmona was intoxicated and forced her into his car and drove off. The woman was able to contact police while she was in his vehicle. 

Following the call to police, the woman was dropped off at a different location in Assumption Parish.

She was then contacted by authorities, who used a Flock camera system to locate a vehicle that matched the description, time frame and travel direction given by the woman. Deputies then used the license plate of the vehicle to identify Carmona as its owner. 

SMPSO obtained an arrest warrant for Carmona and transported him to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. As of Monday afternoon, his bail had not yet been set.
