MARINGOUIN — Former Maringouin Mayor Demi Vorise has been elected to serve another term after being voted out of office in 2018.

Vorise beat Maurice Harris, the current Democratic mayor, with 61% of the vote.

Vorise was initially elected mayor in 2015 and served a single term before Harris beat her in 2018. Harris went on to serve two terms.

The Harris-Vorise race in 2018 came down to the wire, with a four-vote margin sending Harris to town hall. Vorise challenged these results, alleging voter fraud.
