HAMMOND— Southeastern Louisiana University achieves another high-enrollment fall semester with over 15,000 students enrolled, according to Southeastern’s official 14th day enrollment census.

Southeastern is experiencing the largest incoming freshman honors class and largest overall enrollment in Southeastern’s history, as the College of Honors and Excellence saw about a 19% increase since last year, school officials announced on Friday. 

“Our continued enrollment growth reflects the confidence students and families have in Southeastern and the value of a Southeastern education,” said Southeastern President William S. Wainwright. “Growth among incoming freshmen, honors, transfer and graduate students demonstrates the impact of strategic investments in how we serve our students.”

Southeastern continues to see significant enrollment growth in several key categories. New incoming graduate students increased by 6.1% and new incoming transfer students increased by 8%.

Additionally, new first-time freshman and graduate enrollment both increased by about 2%. Southeastern has also seen growth in undergraduate enrollment and total credit hours taken by undergraduate and graduate students. 

“The growth we are seeing across freshmen, transfer, graduate and honors enrollment reflects Southeastern’s commitment to meeting students where they are and providing pathways to a degree and a successful career,” Chief Enrollment Management Officer Kay Maurin said. “We are proud to welcome more students to the Lion community and remain focused on helping them reach their goals.”

With over a $1 billion economic impact on the region, Southeastern offers over 150 programs of study, including many that are regionally and nationally ranked.
