St. George Fire: Firefighter taken to hospital after working fire on Mendocino Way
ST. GEORGE - A firefighter was taken to the hospital after experiencing a "medical emergency" while working a house fie on Mendocino Way, the St. George Fire Department said.
Officials said the fire took place Wednesday at around 5:37 p.m.; firefighters arrived and say heavy fire showing from the front of the home and extending through the roof.
The residence sustained heat damage from the fire, crews confirmed that the fire had not extended into the neighboring structure.
During the incident, a firefighter experienced a medical emergency and was evaluated by medical personnel already standing by at the scene, the fire department said. The firefighter was subsequently transported by East Baton Rouge EMS to a local hospital for further evaluation.
