Teach for America expands into West Baton Rouge Parish as students show improvement across the state
BATON ROUGE — Teach for America welcomed a new generation of educators in West Baton Rouge Parish for the 2026-27 school year.
This school year, the organization's Greater Baton Rouge corps included 48 current corps members, with nine educators now serving in West Baton Rouge Parish schools, creating the organization's first cohort in the parish.
Louisiana's students recently achieved the highest overall mastery rate in the state's history, while national researchers also ranked the state first in reading growth and second in math growth nationwide.

The state has also demonstrated significant improvements in reading through Teach for America's Ignite tutoring program, with two North Baton Rouge partner schools ranking among the top 10 Ignite sites across the country.
