The Capital Region will see another mostly dry, comfortable day Thursday before clouds increase heading into Halloween weekend. Showers and a few thunderstorms are possible Saturday, which could affect outdoor Halloween plans.

Today and tonight:  Expect a mix of sunshine and high clouds Thursday, with afternoon temperatures reaching the lower 80s. Northeasterly winds and low humidity will keep conditions comfortable, although the ongoing dry pattern continues to leave the area short on rainfall.

Skies will be partly cloudy tonight, with temperatures falling to near 60. Clouds will gradually increase Friday as winds turn more southeasterly and moisture begins returning from the Gulf.

Up Next: Friday will be a transition day, with increasing clouds and temperatures climbing into the lower 80s. Most of the area should stay dry through Friday night, even as humidity begins to rise.

Rain chances increase Saturday as a disturbance moves through the region. Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms are possible, with periods of rain potentially continuing into Saturday night. Some locations could receive up to an inch of rain by Sunday morning.

Halloween Trick-or-Treat Forecast: Saturday will not be a washout, but rain could interfere with some outdoor Halloween plans. Showers and a few thunderstorms may develop around midday or during the afternoon and continue into the evening. That means trick-or-treat conditions could vary across the Capital Region, with some neighborhoods seeing rain while others get breaks between showers.

Keep an eye on the forecast as Halloween approaches, especially if you're planning outdoor events. Temperatures should remain relatively mild, but umbrellas and rain gear may come in handy.

Tropics: The National Hurricane Center does not expect tropical cyclone formation in the Atlantic basin during the next seven days.
