ZACHARY - For the first time in 30 years, the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall will spend a weekend in Zachary. 

Mayor David McDavid said the portable replica, which commemorates more than 58,000 service members who died or remain missing in action, will arrive Thursday, Nov. 12, and be installed on the front lawn of Zachary High School.

The mayor said the wall's opening will be preceded by a flag-raising ceremony on Friday, Nov. 13, at 7:30 a.m., to be followed by the Zachary Veterans Day Parade at 9 a.m.

The wall will be open from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. A closing ceremony will be held on Monday at 10 a.m.
