Arrested Baton Rouge prison worker fired after alleged club assault
BATON ROUGE — An East Baton Rouge Parish Prison employee was arrested Tuesday by Baton Rouge Police for alleged third-degree rape.
The victim told police that she and Rashie McDowell, 40, met Sunday while celebrating a mutual friend's birthday at a local club, where she consumed multiple alcoholic drinks.
The victim told authorities that she experienced some mild memory loss, and recalled being in a vehicle outside the establishment with McDowell but could not remember leaving the club or having sexual intercourse.
The victim spoke with detectives at a local hospital on Monday after she reported the assault.
In an interview with BRPD, McDowell admitted to engaging in sexual intercourse with the victim inside a vehicle outside the club.
McDowell was fired from his position at the parish prison after East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office learned of the allegations. He has worked at the sheriff's office since 2018, a spokesperson told WBRZ.
