BATON ROUGE - A 22-year-old man was killed, and four others were injured in a shooting at a Baton Rouge apartment complex that police say stemmed from an ongoing dispute between two groups.

Baton Rouge police said the shooting happened just before 5 p.m. Saturday at the Renaissance Gateway Apartments on North Ardenwood Drive.

Five victims were found, including 22-year-old Latrell Trumble, who later died at a hospital. BRPD Corporal Saundra Watts said the victims are ages 14, 22, 25, 25 and 26.

"What we do know is it was two sets of individuals that were having some type of disagreement," Cpl. Watts said.

Officers had been called to the apartment complex multiple times the night before to break up altercations between the same two groups.

"Our officers responded to that location a few times relative to those disturbances, but ultimately everything came to a head," Watts said.

A resident of the complex, who asked to not be identified, said she heard more than a dozen gunshots.

"The shots were so loud, just going off," she said.

She said she had to shield her two young children during the shooting.

"It was my first time ever experiencing something like that. I'm still traumatized. I don't want my sons to see anything or witness anything like that. I thank God they were inside and not outside playing," she said.

Investigators believe there could have been multiple shooters.

No arrests have been made as police continue interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage to figure out exactly what led up to the shooting and who was involved.
