BATON ROUGE — The United Cajun Navy has deployed teams to the Gulf Coast to assist with response and recovery efforts ahead of Hurricane Isaias’ landfall.

Crews gathered early Friday morning at the organization’s Baton Rouge warehouse to load up specialized equipment, supplies and search-and-rescue gear before hitting the road.

"We're sending our incident management team to assist with search and rescue, search and recovery, and then to provide a quick assessment," said UCN member Josh Gill. "We'll have some items preloaded, but what we're going to do is start shipping additional items that are needed for the immediate response and recovery."

The deployment comes as meteorologists continue tracking the storm's path toward the coast. The team's immediate focus will be initial search efforts and assessing local needs to coordinate follow-up supply shipments from Baton Rouge.
