HAMMOND — A Baton Rouge and a New Orleans artist will be featured in two new exhibitions at the Hammond Regional Arts Center.

In the main gallery, “Nature as the Source: Observations and Abstractions” by Rebecca Madura of New Orleans will be on display. The collection presents a variety of oil paintings inspired by the natural world. 

The Mezzanine Gallery will feature “Open Season” by Emily Seba of Baton Rouge. Seba is a realist painter who creates scientifically accurate paintings of wildlife and anatomy. 

The opening reception will be held on Sept. 11 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The art will remain on display through Oct. 1. 

“We’re excited to continue the fall exhibition season with two artists offering visitors very different opportunities to experience contemporary artwork,” Hammond Regional Arts Center Executive Director Melissa Griffin said. “Opening receptions are one of the best ways to experience the Arts Center—meet
the artists, explore the galleries and connect with others in our community through art.”

The public is invited to attend the opening reception at the Hammond Regional Arts Center, 217 E. Thomas St. in downtown Hammond. Regular gallery hours are Wednesday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m., and admission is free.
