Livingston Parish deputies seize drugs and cash during traffic stop
INDEPENDENCE — A nighttime traffic stop led Livingston Parish Sheriff’s deputies to arrest two men in possession of crack cocaine, meth and nearly $2,000 early Thursday morning.
Deputies were patrolling Highway 40, near George Mashon and Horseshoe roads, when they conducted a traffic stop. Officers seized 6.6 grams of crack cocaine, 0.3 grams of meth, a crack pipe and $1,976 cash from the vehicle and arrested driver 51-year-old Joseph Bedford and passenger 42-year-old Joshua Brister.
Bedford and Brister are being held in the Livingston Parish Detention Center and face various charges.
Bedford is facing one count of possession with intent to distribute schedule II drugs, resisting an officer, failure to signal/improper turn and possession of drug paraphernalia. Brister is being held for one count of one count of possession with intent to distribute schedule II drugs and possession of schedule II drugs.
