BERWICK — The Berwick Fire Department, Berwick Police Department and the Louisiana State Fire Marshal's Office are still investigating a fire that happened at an office building on 3rd St.

Investigators believe there are people in the community who may have information about who set the fire and say there was no electrical power going to the building at the time of the fire; the Louisiana State Fire Marshal's Office is helping to figure out what caused it.

Firefighters from Berwick, Bayou Vista Volunteer Fire Department and Morgan City Fire Department responded to the fire, which had fully engulfed the building. Because there were no nearby hydrants, crews used tank water and drafted water from the Atchafalaya River.

Two firefighters were hurt while fighting the fire. One was treated for heat exhaustion and the other for an eye injury. Both were released from a hospital.

Investigators believe there are people in the community who may have information about who set the fire.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Berwick Police Department at 985-384-7710, message their Facebook page or use the Louisiana State Fire Marshal's online tip line, which can be found here. Tips can be made anonymously.
