JARREAU — A 36-year-old Jarreau man died following a residential fire on Sunday afternoon on Woodview Lane, according to the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal. 

The Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff's Office and Pointe Coupee Fire District responded to the fire around 3 p.m., where a body was discovered after the flames were extinguished. 

Fire investigators determined that the home did not have a working smoke alarm. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. 

The State Fire Marshal's Office is leading the investigation.
