BATON ROUGE — The SEC said LSU could be expelled from the conference as the two sides continue fighting in court.

In a filing, the conference argued LSU has not resolved the dispute and said its rules allow it to end LSU's membership. The SEC says LSU's recruitment of former NBA player RJ Luis Junior and other international players violates its rules.

The conference also cited comments from men's basketball coach Will Wade about LSU's approach.

"We're gonna be unapologetic about it. It is what it is. We're going to be unapologetic. This is who we are. This is what we're doing. This is the path that we charted. We're going to go down it, and that's fine. But just because it's unconventional and, hey, look, I got it. When you do stuff unconventional, they're waiting for you to fail. Everybody's waiting for us to fail. That's fine. If we fail, I own it," Will Wade said.

Wade also said LSU would follow SEC protocols with RJ Luis Junior. He said Luis did not travel with the team to McNeese and has not been rostered.

Attorney Franz Bordghat questioned whether the SEC still has a basis for the lawsuit. He said he does not see federal court allowing LSU to be expelled from the conference.

"The SEC is kind of like an absentee parent that all of a sudden has shown up and wants to parent, but they're overparenting. And candidly, I don't see where the federal suit is now still. arrives for them. So to me, any expulsion of LSU from the SEC is going to be met with some—and I just don't see federal court allowing that to happen," he said.

Wade has also said LSU has 15 players practicing and is still working through eligibility with 3 or 4 of them. As the case keeps playing out in court, there is no guarantee LSU will be expelled, but the SEC's latest filing says it is a real possibility.

Students spoke to WBRZ reacting to the threat of expulsion, saying they can't imagine this conference without LSU.

"That they can't do that, man. LSU runs the SEC, dog. It's like you can't, you, you can't eliminate them," he said.
